About

The Mediterranean connects more than it divides

Association AVER is a young non-profit in Le Havre, founded in 2026. Our team has years of experience in Euro-Mediterranean youth programmes; as an association, we are now preparing our first projects with the southern shore.

Our three aims, as set out in our statutes

  1. Foster exchanges between the peoples of both shores of the Mediterranean.

  2. Encourage education for Mediterranean citizenship.

  3. Promote intercultural dialogue and the values of democracy, tolerance and international solidarity.

Our method: popular and non-formal education, learning together through experience and debate. Our priorities: youth, inclusion and citizen participation.

FAQ

Before you join us

Another question? Write to us.

How do I become a member of AVER?

Write to us using the form below (topic ‘Membership’) or by email, and we will tell you about the association, how it works and the membership fee.

Do I need to speak French to take part?

For the workshops in Le Havre, yes: they are held in French. For international projects, no: English is often the shared language there, and nobody needs to be bilingual. You can write to us in French, English or Arabic.

I live outside Le Havre, or outside France. Can I take part?

Yes, depending on the project: our exchanges will bring together young people from several countries. Age and residence rules depend on the programme (13 to 30 for an Erasmus+ youth exchange, 18 to 30 for the European Solidarity Corps); we will tell you what applies to you.

How much time do I need to give?

It is up to you: a one-off workshop, a few hours a month as a volunteer, or a mobility project lasting from a few days to several months.

Are there any costs?

Activities in Le Havre are free and open to non-members. Only membership has an annual fee. In European programmes, most of the participants’ travel and stay is covered.

I have never been on an exchange. Is that a problem?

Not at all. European youth programmes are designed with first-timers in mind and include preparation before departure.
